Perspective

Just a quick thought on perspective.

Kudzuki, my Great Dane puppy, is teaching me quite a lot on that subject.  To his big eyes, things look different than from my perspective.  I'm used to dogs seeing things from a smaller than me view and it's a bit disconcerting to have it happen the other way 'round.

For instance, when I look at my barn red, cedar sided house, I see a sea of red.  My puppy sees sticks that can be broken off and carried around triumphantly as toys.  God help me, he just tears a chunk of siding off and carries it around and chews on it.  They stopped making my siding back in the early 90s.

Excuse the blurry pic and especially the Eeyore pjs.
I spend half my time worrying that the ingredients in the paint will harm him, and the other half hoping he chokes on it.  Aggghhhh!  I love him!

  1. LOL, I reckon it is all perspective. He certainly looks like quite a pup!

    1. He is just something else, Leigh. We had no idea he was half Great Dane. I was worried he had some kind of genetic disorder when he just kept growing and growing. Our vet finally clued us in.

There is nowhere he can't reach at this point except the top of the fridge.

  2. Have you brought him to the vet to know whether the siding that he chewed on can still be removed for inside him? I'm sure Kudzuki will be alright and the sidings can still be replaced with new ones.

    1. Hi Mary. No, I haven't taken him to the vet lately, although one of the vet techs is our pet-sitter, so he has had a lookyloo. I don't think he actually ingested any siding, although he has certainly swallowed half of the interior of our house and been x-rayed an alarming number of times because of it. Puppy proofing your house becomes impossible when your dog is as tall as you are. I was worried about the stain on the siding, really, but he seems to be fine. And by fine I mean hellzapoppin whenever he is awake. For instance, in his excitement to see me again after a long and tragic 10 minute separation while he was outside visiting the facilities, he dove at me and accidentally landed with all of his weight on the side of my ankle. %$#@)(**&^%$. He's so adorable...when he is sleeping, the huge darling.

    1. Thanks, Jaime. I don't think he is intentionally mischievous. He's, well, he's not the smartest dog I've ever met. But he is very, very enthusiastic about whatever has just caught his attention. And happy. And sweet. He likes to lay across our laps, God help us, and raise his head up so he's staring us adoringly in the face while we are being crushed under him.
